“SHOO!” WORDS THAT BREAK BONES

black and white heart illustration
Father God, thank You that we “shoo!” stones and we “shoo!” words that break bones. This God Sonnet was inspired by the Bible Verse: “All of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, Be tenderhearted, Be courteous” (1 Peter 3:8). Whoever came up with “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words won’t hurt me” was completely clueless. Words WILL break bones, and they often do. “Shoo!” words were thrown at Your Son and our Savior and Deliverer, Jesus Christ, and while “not one of his bones will be broken” (John 19:36), these “shoo!” words did break His Heart. How do we not break His Heart? Shame none! “Shoo!” none; Be courteous, not come apart. “Shoo!” none; Be tenderhearted, not defame. “Shoo!” stones and “shoo!” words (BOTH) that break bones. On a more personal note, i was bullied mercilessly as a child, and their “shoo!” words hurt me way more than their “shoo!” stones. And i can only know now that they bullied me because they were the insecure ones. i became insecure because of this but only know now that i am secure in His Heart. That’s not to say that i am not insecure sometimes (most times, if i’m being honest), but I can go to Him and His Heart (BOTH) who will “shoo!” stones (“let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her” [John 8:7], and He and His Heart (BOTH) will have no “shoo!” words for me that would break my bones. Please don’t break my heart today; please don’t break His Heart today. Please don’t break someone’s heart today; please don’t break His Heart today. i pray all of this in the Wonderful and Precious and Zoneless Name of Jesus Christ, the Name above every other name, including my own name. This prayer is answered by my faith and my belief. Please help me, Father God, where my faith and my belief are “broke bones.” Amen.

(God’s Sonnet by timothy j. verret; “it’s how i cope to hope [BOTH] in “shoo!”ing all words that would break their bones and my bones, breaking His Heart, this daily leavened bread.”)

Sticks and stones break your bones; your “shoo!” words, too.

your compassion is what will heal broke bones.

Be tenderhearted to all who you “shoo!”

Be courteous to all, “shoo!”ing all stones.

Sticks and stones break my bones; my “shoo!” words, too.

my compassion is what will heal broke bones.

Be tenderhearted to all who i “shoo!”

Be courteous to all, “shoo!”ing all stones.

“their words break bones; they also break My Heart,”

says Jesus. “I didn’t ‘shoo!’ them for shame.

‘Shoo!’ none; Be courteous, not come apart.

‘Shoo!’ none; Be tenderhearted, not defame.”

we break His Heart when we set up “shoo!” zones.

we “shoo!” stones, and we “shoo!” words that break bones.

  1. Words drill right to my heart. Shoo words can be any words with bad intent or sometimes even harmless words said carelessly and in an insensitive way. Words that break my heart are SHOO words
