Father God, thank You that You guard our gripes. This God Sonnet was inspired by this Bible Verse: “He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction” (Proverbs 13:3). It’s true! When we open wide our lips to gripe, our peace is destroyed. When we let God guard our every gripe, our life is preserved. Only You have ALL POWERS to guard our gripes. Only Your Son and our Savior and Deliverer, Jesus Christ, is I, ME, whose Hype is High. This being the case, how down and drag (BOTH) are our words. The Hype is Your Word; the down and drag (BOTH) are our words. Your Hype is High and does not gag. “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His Stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). Why all our gripes when Jesus Paid it ALL by His Stripes? On a more personal note, I’ve been very guilty of griping. I still can be very guilty of griping. But check this out! “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” (Matthew 6:27). I think we can easily substitute God’s Word, “worrying,” for our words, “complaining” and “griping.” And for the word, “hours,” in this Bible Verse, no wonder I wrote “hours” for the stanza I addressed to me in this God Sonnet. I often write the word, “hours,” because my #2 favorite film of all time is THE HOURS (2002). Father God, let me stop worrying, complaining, and griping. Let every single hour of my life be spent speaking Your High Hype to speak words of love, compassion and mercy to BOTH humans and especially nonhuman animals, as this is Your Calling (not complaining) on my little, decreased life. I pray all of this in the Wonderful and Precious and Hype Name of Jesus Christ, the Name above every other name, including my own name. This prayer is answered by my faith and my belief. Please help me, Father God, where my faith and my belief are instead griping. Amen.
(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope [BOTH] in God guarding my every need to gripe [to increase] this daily leavened bread.”)
What can your gripe add anything to life?
What can your gripe do but steal away peace?
God Guards your gripe for safety’s sake of strife.
God Guards your gripe for your gripe to decrease.
What can my gripe add anything to hours?
What can my gripe do but destroy my peace?
God Guards my gripe for He has ALL POWERS.
God Guards my gripe for my need to increase.
“It is I, ME, who Guards your every gripe,”
says Jesus. “What can your gripe do but gag?
You gag on words spoken not of My Hype.
My Hype is High, so your words down and drag.”
When it comes to our gripes, not Jesus Stripes.
Speak as Jesus Spoke, as God Guards our gripes.
