“Father God, thank You that It is You Who is calling the shots and orchestrating time (BOTH)….or ‘is It?’ We cannot have It BOTH ways! ‘No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve BOTH God AND money’ (Matthew 6:24). No, we cannot serve BOTH/AND, hypocrIte! We can also replace the word, ‘money,’ with any word that is NOT ‘is It?’ On a more personal note, I replace the word, ‘money,’ with another ‘m’ word, ‘man,’ because that is my struggle, i.e., pleasing man instead of pleasing Father God. And it pains me to know that I cannot have BOTH, because I am the ‘BOTH’ guy. This is one hate/love or devoted to/despise that I cannot have BOTH! I can ONLY love/devoted to my Lord and Savior and Deliver, Jesus Christ. Otherwise, I am ‘less than.’ Otherwise, I am digging my own grave and I am my own slave (BOTH). Help me, Father God, readmit by admitting I need Jesus and ONLY Jesus. I need NOT please man but ONLY please You, Father God, through Your Son and my Lord and Savior and Deliverer, Jesus Christ. And for a recovering codependent such as myself, none of this is easy, no, not at all, not in the very least. In fact, it is downright difficult! But while I’m hurting from ‘is It?,’ I’m also growing from ‘is It?’ (BOTH) into the Image of Jesus Christ that Father God is transforming me Into. And that Image is to be a nonhuman animal welfare advocate for Father God. And like the Imaged picture for this sonnet, that includes not only nonhuman animals that start with the letter, ‘I,’ but also ALL nonhuman animals that start with ALL the letters of the alphabet. I pray all of this in the Wonderful and Precious and Serving (NOT swerving) Name of Jesus Christ, and this prayer is answered by my faith and my belief. Please help me, Father God, where my faith and my belief are lacking. Amen.”
(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope in readmitting/admitting BOTH or ‘is It?,’ that It’s ONLY Jesus I need, this daily leavened [Jesus Every!] bread.”)
is it you who is calling all the shots?
is it you who is orchestrating time?
apart from Jesus, you’re tied up in knots.
apart from Jesus, you are pantomime.
is it me who is pushing to please man?
is it me who is digging my own grave?
apart from Jesus, I’m pleasing “less than.”
apart from Jesus, I am my own slave.
“is It ME Who is your Every ‘is It?'”
asks Jesus. “or ‘is it’ man you’re serving?
you cannot have It BOTH ways, hypocrIte.
one you’ll love, one you’ll hate. BOTH, you’re swerving.”
is it that we’re afraid to readmit?
admit we need Jesus. BOTH or “is It?”
