“Father God, thank You that we gotta wanna pray to You through Your Son and our Savior and Deliverer, Jesus Christ. If we just gotta pray, we are missing out on so much. But if we gotta wanna pray, we get the Full Scope of Your Love, Father God. That Way, we get to know Your Way which is, ‘I Peace Way to my Jesus.’ On a more personal note, I confess that sometimes I feel like I gotta pray when I don’t wanna pray. In fact, it happened just this morning, hence the birth of this God Sonnet. It’s when we gotta wanna pray, that we get what I am so fond of saying: BOTH! We BOTH gotta AND wanna pray! We have our hours for pray and our hours for horseplay (BOTH), but let us, Father God, ONLY have hours to gotta wanna pray. And on an even more personal note, I am SO grateful that nonhuman animals CAN pray, as this picture informs us. I’ve grown quite comfortable with repeating over and over that nonhuman animals BOTH will AND can pray to and praise (BOTH) the Lord. ‘Let everything that has breath praise the Lord’ (Psalm 150:6). And it’s not just that nonhuman animals can praise the Lord but also that we can learn much from them. ‘But ask the animals and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky and they will tell you’ (Job 12:7). It’s such a travesty that we live in an anthropocentric world that thinks humans can pray and everyone else like nonhuman animals cannot pray. This can best be summated in: ‘For what happens to the children of man and what happens to the animals is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and MAN HAS NO ADVANTAGE OVER THE ANIMALS, for all is vanity.’ (Ecclesiastes 3:19). Speaking of “pray,” I gotta wanna pray, Father God, that I took none of these Bible Verses out of their intended context. I pray all of this in the Wonderful and Precious and Peace Way Name of Jesus Christ, and this prayer is answered by my faith and my belief. Please help me, Father God, where my faith and my belief are lacking. Amen.”

(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope in gotta wanna pray this daily leavened [gotta wanna follow Jesus!] bread.”)

You gotta pray ’cause there’s no other way.

But do you wanna pray, wanna that way?

You gotta wanna pray, wanna that way.

If you just gotta pray, wanna you stray.

I gotta pray ’cause I’m lost at sea’s bay.

But do I wanna pray, wanna God’s Way?

I gotta wanna pray, wanna That Way.

If I just gotta pray, wanna I’m prey.

“You gotta wanna pray to Me, My Way,”

says Jesus. “If you just gotta pray, say

you wanna follow Me? Say, ‘I Peace Way

to My Jesus. I gotta wanna pray.'”

We have hours for pray and hours for horseplay.

“Neigh!” “Yes!” We gotta pray or wanna pray?

  1. I hope these Bible Verses, Dag, will help you in your “lost today, trying to find my way:”

“Turn Yourself to me and have mercy on me, for I am desolate and afflicted. The troubles of my heart have enlarged; bring me out of my distresses!” – Psalm 25:16-17

“So, do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with My Righteous Right Hand” – Isaiah 41:10

And this 1 (or 2 or 3 or 4) is a personal favorite of mine, because it tells my “lost sheep of Jesus” story in the greatest of compassion AND mercy (BOTH):

“What man of you, having 100 sheep, if he loses 1 of them does not leave the 99 in the wilderness, and go after the 1 which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found that 1, he lays that 1 on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have my sheep which was LOST!'” – Luke 15:4-6

That “Man” is Jesus and that “1 lost sheep” was ME!!!! 🙏
