“Father God, thank You that we are not where we once were. We (yes, including our friendly dog in the picture) have all traveled (not by airfare) light, and it has taken us Light years to get here. It was Light of Your Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ, that brought us here from where we once were. And it was the Joy of Jesus to be with us on this Truth Transfer: Was us, now Jesus in us, now ‘Real McCoy.’ On a more personal note, Father God, thank you for allowing me to use ‘Real McCoy’ in this sonnet to rhyme with ‘joy.’ I did not really know what ‘Real McCoy’ meant but when I looked it up and found it was defined as, ‘the real thing; the genuine article; authentic,’ I knew this was EXACTLY the right choice for this God Sonnet! I thrive immensely and intensely to be ‘the real thing; the genuine article; authentic.’ I hope that I will continue to live EXACTLY this, because it is EXACTLY this that has taken me from where I once were. Help us stay in NOW today, Father God, for Bible verse after Bible verse, like Philippians 3:13-14 and Isaiah 43:18-19, remind us that we are to forget our past (yesterday) and run the race to NOW (today). ‘I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.’ I pray all of this in the Wonderful and Precious and ‘Real McCoy’ Name of Jesus Christ, and this prayer is answered by my faith and my belief. Please help me, Father God, where my faith and my belief are lacking. Amen.”
(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope in not where I was once were but pressing on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus this daily leavened [Jesus IS the ‘Real McCoy!’] bread.”)
Where you once were, you are no longer there.
Have you noticed you no longer withhold?
Hold nothing back from God to anywhere
there’s God who is everywhere you unfold.
Where I once were, I am no longer where
it was just me, alone, no friend in sight.
Where I’ve gone, I took it not by airfare.
I took it by Friend’s Grace. I traveled light.
“Look now to see you’re not where you once were,”
says Jesus. “My, oh my, it was My Joy
to be there with you for the Truth Transfer:
Was you, now Me in you, now ‘Real McCoy!'”
Maybe was yesterday it was a blur.
Today, though, we are not where we once were.
