“Father God, thank You that You claim us: ‘You’re not stupid!’ Thank You for reminding me of this last night when I left my tablet charger at work and called myself, ‘stupid,’ over and over again. Same as the Bible Study yesterday, I suffer from The ‘Broken Record’ Syndrome, i.e., I play a ‘broken record’ over and over again that scratches over and over again and yet I expect a different song. This, as they call in it recovery circles, is INSANITY! Help all of us, Father God, take off that ‘broken record’ and put on a ‘New Record’ that plays over and over again without scratching over and over again the song that we are NOT stupid! This ‘New Record’ also plays over and over again without scratching over and over again the song that “GOD IS LOVE” (1 John 4:8). As the sonnet says, we are not to call ourselves what Your Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ, never would Be. We are indeed flawed but we are also the ‘New Few’ of Jesus. ‘Stupid is as stupid does?’ NO! Stupid is NOT as stupid won’t DO! We are NOT stupid, just human race and thus fallible. We are learning Grace, and we are learning to trust Jesus. Thank you, Father Cupid, God of Love! The picture reminds me that I am an Enneagram 4 and, thus, SPECIAL ANYTHING means a whole lot to me, even if I were a SPECIAL STUPID. Thank you, Father God, that I will ALWAYS be SPECIAL in Your Eyes but never SPECIAL STUPID. I pray all of this in the Wonderful and Precious and ‘New Few’ Name of Jesus Christ, and this prayer is answered by my faith and my belief. Please help me, Father God, where my faith and my belief are lacking. Amen.”
(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope in ‘I’m not stupid!’ but I am one of the ‘New Few’ of Jesus Christ this daily leavened [Jesus is Cupid!] bread.”)
You’re not stupid! You’re just one fallible.
One stupid is one too many for Grace.
When you call yourself stupid, probable
and palpable that you’re just human race.
I’m not stupid, though this finds me at “hurt.”
When I’m hurt, I find this: “What’s wrong with you?”
What’s wrong with me is I’m one on alert
to what’s right with me: “It’s God’s Point of View!”
“You’re not stupid. You’re learning to trust Me,”
says Jesus. “Stupid don’t do as I do.
Don’t call yourself what I never would Be.
Call yourself flawed. Call yourself My ‘New Few.'”
We are free to claim our God our Cupid.
Our God of Love claims us: “You’re not stupid!”
