The Silence (1963) - Rotten Tomatoes
“Father God, thank You that we can choose silence over violence, that we can choose Hope over Hate. My favorite film director, Ingmar Bergman, explored ‘The Silence of God’ in many of his films. Bergman pondered that God was silent in our trials and tribulations, but I think it’s just the opposite. I think when we get silent with Father God, we hear Him say, ‘Hush. Don’t rush. Hope in My Son’s Way of Peace. Give away your TV!’ I don’t want to put these words in God’s Mouth but when I hush, don’t rush, and hope in The Peace of Jesus, I can hear these words and thus write about them. I’m not entirely sold on giving away my TV just yet, because how then would I be able to watch Ingmar Bergman’s films, not to mention episodes of GOOD TIMES that I like watching? As J.J. would say, ‘DYN-O-MITE!’ But, seriously, give your TV away if it is consuming your every moment of your every day. That Too Violent of TV drowns out the Loving and Thoughtful Words of our Father God. On a more personal note, I have not forgotten about God’s nonhuman animals usually pictured with a sonnet. Well? Violence or silence? I refuse to be silent when it comes to raising my voice for the violence heaped on God’s nonhuman animals. I pray all of this in the Wonderful and Precious and Them Two Name of Jesus Christ, and this prayer is answered by my faith and my belief. Please help me, Father God, where my faith and my belief are lacking. Amen.”

(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope in silence over violence, Hope over Hate, no Too Violent TV [only ‘TV’ as in ‘Timothy Verret’] this daily leavened bread.”)

It’s the violence that is ripping your soul.

It’s the silence that is absent your rush.

Can’t find internal peace of world’s patrol.

Can find it in world’s shout when you are hush.

It’s the violence that is heaped on myself.

It’s the silence that is when I hear, “Hope!”

God is Hope when I am silent Himself.

World is Hate when I am violent hung rope.

“Violence or silence? Choose My Way of Peace,”

whispers Jesus. “Give your TV away!”

TV means Too Violent! It’s Hate Increase!

We are Two Silent for the Hope of Pray.”

We’ve come too far to give up reliance

on Them Two now. Well? Violence or silence?

  1. I don’t know if I’m silent or violent, think I’m somewhere in between. It’s a good lesson for us all.

  2. Probably BOTH as always, Dag. Realistically speaking, we probably all are somewhere in between. Progress, not perfection 😉
