(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope in wearing my crown of thorns and purposed purple robe as God’s deep thinker.”)
You were purposed for a life as journey.
You were not purposed to get stuck en route.
This has happened to you. No attorney
but God can you hire for your parachute.
I was purposed to journey “surrender.”
I was not purposed to journey “sinker,”
my muddy boots proof I’m no pretender.
I’m down and dirty as God’s deep thinker.
“A crown of thorns and purposed purple robe”
was what they had Jesus Christ wear at “Bring!”
We must wear these, too, when the world will probe
us: “Do you know this Robed Man?” “YES! HE’S KING!”
We will have to journey all ’round the globe
with crown of thorns and purposed purple robe.
