(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope in, you got it, being just who God promises I am!”)
You think you need to be who they say you
need to be. They “moo” and you’re prone to “quack.”
Be just who you are. Be who God made who,
vegetable stew. You’re one crop in a field of lack.
I don’t think no more who they need me to
be. I’m just me, take or leave, love or hate.
I please God when I’m me. I please me, too.
I’m held accountable as God’s Soul Mate.
“Don’t conform to the pattern of someone.
Be just who you are.” Someone won’t “get you.”
Good! Some didn’t “get Jesus.” They did shun
Him, but He stayed True to God, banned beef stew.***
Our promise: Conforming won’t get us far.
God’s Promise: “My child, be just who you are!”
***(“Banned beef stew?” As a vegan, I had to include this in a humbled attempt for someone to hopefully and prayerfully “get me.”)
