(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope in Just Jesus when I try to defy”)
You try to make them do what you expect.
You try to make them see what is your view.
It’s the trying that has you disaffect.
Surrender them to themselves. God helps you.
I try to make them understand my pain.
I try to make them my joy when I’m drab.
I try too hard. The soft touch is God’s Reign.
God reins me in so that they’re not my grab.
“I don’t try, for it is Christ who strengthens
me to do all things.” Our try is futile.
When we admit powerless, God lengthens
our resolve. Otherwise, our solve? Brutal!
Let God do everything when we’re defy.
Strength in numbers? No! Just Jesus! Don’t try!!!!
