(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope in what I got being more than enough and what I got, giving it away for God’s Glory”)
What you got, you tell you, is not enough.
“I’m wanting more” is your cry for “greed need.”
You look around you, and there’s so much stuff.
“Why am I not happy?” The wrong exceed.
What I got, I tell me, is undeserved.
Given my track record, I run nothing.
God says, “I give you what I have observed:
We love each other. Thus, I’m your wellspring.”
“Give what you got. It’s measured back to you,”
says Jesus. What we got, we give away.
“I can’t part with that one!” If you accrue,
you might lose it all. Then? Nothing but pray.
Acquiring the whole world is a long shot.
Best to rest in gratitude: What we got.
I am very attracted to minimalism but don’t know if I could pull it off. I have a lot of stuff and can do with less. Best to rest in gratitude for what you got.
