(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope in ‘right-word’ living this daily leavened bread”)
You wish you had the right words when on fire.
Something you could say that would extinguish
the flames all around you. It’s time to hire
a supreme fighter of fires. Distinguish
I do for the right words when I’m heated.
“Will I become ashes or will I rise?”
My words can’t cool me off when mistreated.
God’s Word is Love that burns up all my lies.
There is a “right” word when all hope seems lost,
when our unworthiness takes us at heist,
when our insides trail blaze to Holocaust.
It’s just so “right” a word to say: “Jesus Christ!”
Inhale, exhale, and believe what we’ve heard.
