(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope in plank-free Bible reading and reflecting and living for Great Things in store”)
You are living your life a sordid past.
Your great future commands have not arrived.
Or have they and you’re too much self-lambaste?
“Bast” or “baste?” Neither, “lamb,” when love deprived.
I try to live by The “Great Future” Book:
The Bible, Commands of Great Things in store.
I open It up to any page. Look!
Then, I remove the plank from my eyes’ sore.
“Teacher, what is The Greatest of The Great?”
“That’s easy,” says Jesus. “Greatest Great: LOVE!”
Nothing else comes close, certainly not hate
and never pride, the fall after the shove.
We are all facing troubles doomed “done for.”
Love God, love you, love me: Great Things in store.
