(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope in wanting The Father by needing The Son this daily leavened bread”)
You want a father, already the son
you have. Are you the best dad for his fear?
Or is his fear your making? Forgot fun?
You be his hope and let him be your cheer.
I wanted a father who called me, “friend,”
a man who loved me as a fragile sort.
When I wept, I wanted a dad Godsend,
a man who loved me not as last resort.
“None come to The Father except through Me,”
says Jesus. Here, The Son is the way through.
The Dad is who we meet when we want Free
Love. The Son calms us for the interview.
We’re talking “me” and not them; one-on-One.
If we want The Father, we need The Son.
