“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30)
(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope in my Rescuer Jesus lightening my lameness in the ‘sheepier’ times I face”)
You need a rescuer, one at the gate
to let you come in, little lonely lamb.
You hear His Voice. You are not one to wait.
You walk through in spite of the sheepish cram.
I need a Rescuer, one to “Lordly”
my lameness. I’m a loaded-up donkey.
I thought I was a sheep? Jesus rides me
around. He is as light as I am free.
“I saw the ram. None rescued from his horns.
He magnified himself.” Then, Jesus came.
The Lamb defeated the ram. Crown of thorns
pricked horns of haughtiness. Humble His Name.
Times are “sheepier” and there are fewer.
We need our Lamb. We need our Rescuer.
