(God’s Sonnet by Timothy J. Verret; “it’s how I cope to hope in drinking what makes me smaller, then taller, for what lies ahead with God”)
What lies ahead for you will be shelter.
What lies ahead for you will be shatter.
You will want the end of helter-skelter.
You will want love to start pitter-patter.
What lies ahead for me will be strengthen.
What lies ahead for me will be sorrow.
I will want joy and kindness to lengthen.
I will want death but I will not borrow
“or steal for I want what’s ahead with Him.”
Neither will we slander nor we swindle.
We will love our Lord even when it’s grim,
especially when it’s grim, for we will dwindle.
Alice in Wonderland got small, then spread
wide and tall. We, too, for what lies ahead.
