(God’s Painting/Photo by Timothy J. Verret with another painting/photo [below] with a SCRIPTURE and HEARTFELT OBSERVATION)
SCRIPTURE: “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.” – Psalm 23:5 (KJV)
HEARTFELT OBSERVATION: If I desire to be a “no-holds-barred” artist (which I do, by the way), then I need to accept that other artists can be “no-holds-barred,” too. But, that said, I took real offense to this painting/photo I found online:
If you look closely at the painting/photo, you will see that the artist included a picture of a dead lamb (strange-looking animal if that is a lamb?) on a plate for The Lord’s Last Supper. I was very upset when I researched what might have been served at Jesus’ Last Supper; according to some archeologist (and this man is NOT Jesus, so….), “a bean stew (I would eat that!), LAMB (NEVER!), olives (I don’t care for them), bitter herbs (exactly how bitter?), a fish sauce (NOPE!), unleavened bread (can I order “leavened?”), dates (sure!) and aromatized wine (sorry, I don’t drink alcohol) likely were on the menu at the Last Supper.” But if I am to believe that “thou (Jesus) preparest a table before me (Timothy) in the presence of mine enemies,” I am quite “good ” with Jesus that: a) I would politely request a vegan meal with “no animals served” and b) if my “enemies” were to be at the table, you better believe those same enemies would be animal abusers.
NOTE: The painting I did was done in “color” but when I took a picture of it with my phone and saw the option for B&W, I saved it that way, and I am really “grooving” on it. I have always loved B&W photos and if I could paint in B&W, I most likely would. But I’m, of course, drawn intensely to colors but with this painting/photo God project I did, I am most definitely “B&W” about its message: At the table prepared for me, I will NOT (it’s that “B&W”) eat meat or ANY animal served or anything that comes from an animal who had to die, an animal who wanted to live just as much as I do and feel no pain just as much as I do, AND I believe Jesus is quite “A-okay” with that.
Blessings and love, compassion, and kindness for ALL God’s Creatures,
Timothy J. Verret
